Dye Levelling Agents
Levelling agents ensure that the dye is evenly dispersed through the fabric. They act by controlling the exhaustion of the dye on the textile and/ or controlling the migration of the dye after and initial uneven sorption.
Clearing Agents
Clearing agents are used to remove loose dye particles from fabrics after dyeing. This improves the overall fastness properties of goods and prevents the staining of un-dyed proportions of the goods.
Buffers
A buffer system maintains almost a constant pH of the solution and thereby increases the amount of acid or alkali that must be added to cause any change in its pH. An efficient buffering system is required during dyeing and printing operations.
Defoamers/ Deaerators
Defoamers are used in most areas of wet processing to control the amount of foam formation during processing. Foam can be detrimental, especially during dyeing.
Dispersing Agents
Liquor movement, high temperatures and the presence of electrolytes and heavy metals can impair the dispersion stability of the dyestuff. If a dye crystallises, it cannot be reversed. As a result, spots of dye on the goods occur, the yield drops and unlevelled dyeing is obtained.
Diffusion Accelerants/ Carriers
Diffusion Accelerants are used to promote level and even dye penetration. Diffusion accelerants swell the fibres and thus aid dye penetration.
Print Additives
The products categorised as print additives help in achieving the full colour value of disperse dyes on polyester, when fixed in Ager at a high temperature. These products also assist in easy removal of thickener used in print paste.
Washing Off Agents
The washing off agents effectively remove the hydrolysed and unhydrolysed dye from the fibre for obtaining good wet fastness properties.
Anti-crease Lubricants
Anti-crease lubricants reduce creases and chafe marks by adding suitable lubricants in the processing liquors. These lubricants should be compatible with dyes and other chemicals, should not affect the colour yield and must have little tendency to foaming.
Dye Fixatives
Fixatives are usually applied after dyeing to improve the fastness properties of the dyed goods. These products either react chemically to bond with unused dye sites or form a barrier, locking the dyestuff onto the fibre.
Acid Donors
Acid donor hydrolyses or breaks down to yield acid in a number of dyeing and printing processes.
Alkali Donors
Alkali donor is a compound that hydrolyses or breaks down to yield alkali. Alkali donors are also used in silicate free cold pad batch dyeing with reactives. The donors maintain high pad liquor stability and good reproducibility.
Anti-migrating Agent
In continuous dyeing processes, these agents prevent the uncontrolled migration of the dyestuff mainly caused by physical phenomena occurring during the production process, thus ensuring homogeneous colouring.
Print Penetrant
Improves prints quality where fabrics have low penetrability. Controls frothing in long runs on screen or on rotary printing machine. Avoids speckiness problem in high twist and heavy qualities and also improves colour yield
Peroxide Neutraliser
Reducing agent for hydrogen peroxide. Neutralizes remaining hydrogen peroxide from fabric after bleaching to protect oxidation during dyeing.
